Philippa will be teaching the Level 1 Lindy Hop Track and Blues Tasters with Vivien at the Festival, and also the Mind and Body Taster!
Philippa Svensson dove into Swing dancing in 2009 and she has not looked back since. With an unrivalled ability to absorb movement and technique she quickly rose to become one of the most sought-after followers in the South of Sweden. Philippa was introduced to the Blues through a string of house parties, and intrigued she wanted more. She has won several big competitions in Europe (Berlin Blues Explosion ’12 – 1st place in both Strictly and Showcase; Blues Baby Blues ’11 – 1st place in Strictly) and is quickly becoming a powerhouse on the European competition circuit.
Vivien will be teaching the Level 1 Lindy Hop Track and Blues Tasters with Philipa at the Festival, and is one of the Festival organisers!
Vivien originally started taking dance lessons during Uni in France, because he felt terribly awkward when music played at parties. He promptly fell in love with Lindy-hop and continued learning in Japan and the UK. He’s now in a full dancing craze, attending as many swing camps as possible, and started working as a professional dance teacher. He is a member of Oxford Lindy Hoppers and runs its Tuesday teaching and social night, Swing Fix. He love to compete and push himself, and has been placed numerous times, recently winning first place at the 2014 Blues Berlin Blues Explosion.
Peter will be teaching the Collegiate Shag Tasters at the Festival!
Peter quickly developed a taste for shag, learning from many of the world’s best shag dancers, and is now growing the shag community in London with weekly classes at ‘Shag Pile’ and monthly club night ‘Kings X Swing’. Whilst shag can be danced with lots of energy to extremely fast music, he enjoys its versatility, and encourages a mix of styles from elegant to athletic – whatever feels right with the music. In 2014 Peter taught workshops in London, Gothenburg, Oxford, and Newcastle, and performed at festivals across the UK with the ‘Mudflappers’. Peter’s many dance credits include mediocre Cameron Diaz vehicle ‘Gambit’, and the unlikely ‘Avengers 2: Age of Ultron’. Peter’s passion for the dance comes across in his lessons, and he also loves a good dance metaphor – especially the one about the bus… Check out:

He is today working on making Balboa even more popular in the Swing Dance Community, using any given opportunity to learn from the best teachers and share his experience and understanding of connection & rhythm with fellow dancers.
